Reds not very shifty

After reading Big Data Baseball, you have to wonder where the Reds stand in their use of baseball analytics. Most all of baseball had figured out the value of defensive shifts. According to Baseball Info Solutions, teams shifted 13,294 times in 2014 vs. only 4,577 times in 2012. Where were the Reds? According to a chart in the book, the Reds actually shifted less in 2014 (212) than in 2013 (290). The 2014 mark was actually 5th least in the Major Leagues. This, despite the change of managers from Dusty Baker to Bryan Price. A move that, in part, was supposed to allow for more modern baseball strategy.
